Is it legal to log "sleeper" while being loaded or unloaded? And if so how would you flag that?

If you're running paper, 15 min on then sleeper
If you're on elogs, do between 5-8min on then do sleeper.
    You'll be fine

As long as you aren't back there loading or unloading.

I don't know if you can still do it but you use to be able to log pre trip and load or unload.

If using elogs each status will have a place for you to put what your doing e.g. in sleeper at shipper. You only have to be on duty when checking in or out and if your on the dock for any reason.

The dot gets suspicious if they see a lot of 5 min on duty for loads
A good idea is to put in an occasional 15 min on when you have it to spare and 5 min on when you're tight on the clock

I log 10 min for load/unload, never had DOT question it on an inspection. They just look at the graph for the last seven days, not the details.

Maybe on an audit they will question it, but never have on a roadside.

I always went straight to sleeper when I got to the customer. Always used sleeper when checking in and out. Nothing ever said to me.

It is 'more' legal to log Sleeper at a customer than Off Duty. People who log Off Duty will be questioned where they were and what they were doing because the book says all time at the customer is to be logged On Duty unless relieved of duty. Hard to prove relief of duty but not hard to prove I was in the sleeper which is like a trucker sanctuary on customer property. So we 'cheat' like we did in paper log days and log Sleeper, well if you really are in the Sleeper then it is not cheating.

    This is true
Off duty is always a red flag and has no benefit above sleeper.
I'm careful about using off duty
