I have a conditional job offer at Schneider. I don't see any problems on my info coming back or failing a drug test so I will get the job. Their offer is for me to fly to different locations work for 3 weeks and off for 5 days. Each 3 week period would be at a different location. Would somebody explain if this is a good job or not. I applied to Schneider because I like their O/O program which I would like to do after some time behind the wheel. Any information would be appreciated.

So you won't be based out of a single operating center? I ran into a guy who was doing something very similar at SNI but he was teaming and said he made good money, around $1400-$1500 a week. That's all I know.

You need to explain the job to me; You are the ones in contact with them.

What I suspect is some pencil pusher got the wise idea that they could cover local truck driver shortages by flying drivers to locations. I don't expect that to happen. If it does I don't expect it to happen for long as some other pencil pushers read the bill for flight expenses and relocating trucks. I suspect just another desk jockey idea that doesn't pan out, and leaves you in a OTR situation waiting around for freight.

Or to fill in on dedicated's while another driver(s) are on vacation. I guess a lot has to do with how they compensate. And do they pay hotels in between before you get settled in. Do they pay your time sitting in miserable airport terminals?

I'd be asking a lot of questions.

Honestly the best thing to do it straight up ask the recruiter that you are talking to what it entails, for the most part they won't feed you a line of bovine fecal matter

We have a driver in our little sewing circle that is classified as what you are going to do. He has an assigned sleeper tractor, where we all run day cabs. But he's been there for like a year now I think. He runs solo. Don't know if he would stay or get shipped some place else if they get enough regular drivers or more daycabs. But he told me he goes from place to place and does dedicated start up accounts, or just fills in on dedicated accounts when they are short drivers.

If it were me, mind you all due respect, I would have this discission with Schneider National and ask until you get enough information from enough sources (including SNI drivers) to make an informed judgement. However, one thing I always remember, there is no free lunch and as another posted, you will probablyspend 3 to 4 days in transit.

Driver, if you like keeping your personal items in your truck and like me a bit of a pack rat, as I'm out for 7 to 10 weeks, my choice of course, then you aren't going to like being bounced around. What your saying sounds like some slip seating going around, which okay for local/day cabber but OTR, I'm saying you won't like being a ping pong ball with it.
