I know I know... just having some cheap fun with wordplay.

By the way, you would think they would use something similar to apples, big wood Gaylord size bins. The only problem is disposing of the packaging at the receiver.

Could use the metal gaylords that disassemble into flattened sheets. Figure prolly 30 loads worth would fit back in one load. Less product loss, less chance of damage, faster loading and unloading, simpler loading and unloading, easier to stack in warehouse, only weigh bout the same as a wooden pallet so wouldn't lose much net, seems like innumerable reasons to use a steel mesh Gaylord system..................but they aren't free like truck driver labor tho

    True.

Another way to look at it is I would certainly not want to see thousands of pounds of onions falling from a flatbed onto my car and think to myself, "####! Of all the ways to go and I get offed by ONIONS!!!???"

How do you wash that foul onion stink off your trailer? I took mine to the washout and it still stinks.

Cut the top and sides off and let the radiation from the sun sterilize it.

Are the rates the same for a flat vs reefer ? And do they load the same weight on both...?

Reminds me of someone on this forum a couple years back that hauled hides for tanning from a slaughterhouse to a tanning operation in Florida IIRC. Had to sit on the load over the weekend. When he tightened his straps he had foulness dripping down his arm. Flies circled his load all weekend when he parked it at home. Had to move the rig farther from the house and upwind. Delivered the load, now being drenched by foulness. Three truck washes and an entire new set of straps later he vowed NEVER AGAIN haul hides.

I hauled a load of tarped hides from Idaho to WI awhile back. I was a drippy mess the whole way. Didn't much bother me but I'm used to my boots being covered in cow ####.

I heard @bzinger is afraid to haul them though. Lol
