No im not.. I didnt leave them for another company, i saved $$ while working with them and bought my own truck/flatbed cash and became an owner operator with my own mc numbers.

The downside, mostly with mcelroy i pulled the same type loads over and over. I wish that I had pulled more machinery and steel products which wouldve been great learning as I transitioned from mcelroy to owner operator. (With mcelroy we didnt carry chains based out of NC) but mcelroy did everything they said they would and i made decent money with them as a company driver.

Do you take the truck home at McElroy and where do you park? I've thought about a skateboard but nowhere to park.

Don't take the abuse! Look for another company and quit before they fire you. If it's that streaky your first week, it may get better labor wise but prob not with the co workers. Sounds like the guy is a certified A-Hole.

    Move on G

Since you are new to the industry, maybe you would be better off doing what the company wants you to do and spend less time telling them how to do it. It's a job, not a back massage.

I currently drive for mcelroy. have been with them over a year. the one thing I will say about them is they definitely play favorites with their drivers and the lowes contract they have is their bread and butter. they will deadhead you back from most stores to have you sit and wait in the next lowes load. it is a regional company so you are home every Friday with the truck loaded to leave out Sunday. which is a good thing. pay though fluctuates a great bit.

I'm curious what was your homework about? do you have to pass a written exam just like the DMV exam?

How come you paid for a school and they did not teach you the skills to drive a truck? You aught to be pissed at the School and Swift, if Swift is the one that sponsers the school.

I have no idea what is happening at McElroy, and indeed most all orientations suck. They are just time wasters that crappy companies use to cull the heard. But come on, after truck driving school, just about any written or driving test should be able to be conquered in just an afternoon or else you should be getting a refund from the school.
