I've been looking into this model. It would be my first as well. I like the idea of the outdoor rear facing cameras. Not to read license plates, but to prove I didn't sway out of my lane but they did.
Dual cameras in the front help assure proper id of either side accident, especially at truck stops.
But I am concerned about the quality you speak of... You think the outdoor cameras will hold up, weather wise? It's got the motion sensor. Can you run them constantly while parked, as a security camera? They all start rolling when the truck is turned on?
Any included software? It's the only trucker-centric 4 camera model I've seen.
Nice video here:

The outside cameras also have to be mounted right side up.... There is no auto- rotate feature in the software .
I've got mine mounted so that the view down each side is good , but the video is sideways.... My lawyer can get it rotated.
I have my doubts if the outside cameras will make the winter. We shall see......
And it's not a true 4 camera system. It's 2 separate 2 camera systems....workingklasshero Thanks this. -
It is true the outside camera mount could be better, but for the price of the system compared to other cameras out there, it's a small problem easily overcome. As to how it will survive the winter, I haven't had it long enough to let you know. Hopefully it will work fine all winter. We'll see..

There is a guy on YouTube who makes it his mission in life to test things like this. He has dozens of dash camera reviews. His username is "Techmoan".
The Boss Lady Thanks this. -
I found this below. It's designed for straight trucks. Blackvue seems highly regarded. They are popular with Tesla owners, and you know those worthless no good hipsters do their homework before spending daddy's money. It's Korean made.
Course you need two, at $400 each, for the coverage I'm looking for. I believe they use Sony processors, so the quality seems to be there.

I just bought the cobra 825e at a local loves. I'm liking this dash cam a lot, even more since I got it for free. The resolution is great and it does everything that I need it for.
