They don't care. Canadian supreme court already said:

"Yeah I agree speed limiters put you at risk Mr. Truck Driver, but your safety is secondary to emissions and the safety of the motoring public." -ref Michaud v Ontario

If this was ANY other industry, we would be justified in refusing the work for occupational health and safety reasons.

Good luck with that. I've 7 months left and only drive off road seasonal. The whole Industry is going in the toilet.

That's an old story, rank. The only ones worse off, safety wise, are farmers

Hi okiedokie, I've said that for years, and I haven't driven since 2006. I will NOT renew my CDL when it expires in 2018. Still, even though we've had enough, that doesn't help the poor folks that still have to deal with this. I have a temp job coming up in a few weeks, driving strictly off road, filling cranberry trailers, but I'd cashier at "Dollar General" before I ran on the road again. One thing for sure, it's gonna get a lot worse, if it ever gets better. :biggrin_25513:

@rank , when I drove for H&W back in the early 90's we had K100's with a 365 / 855 Cummins, with a 9spd. Some trucks had a 13spd trans castrated to a 9spd. Top speed was 67. Don't need all the electronic crap to control a truck. It is ridiculous to me that they want to create a bigger problem. Be a lot more 4 wheelers stuck under the back of trucks, in my opinion.

That will be reason to govern all cars to 75 or so. More regulations somehow life is "better" ??? Wonder how many corvettes they will sell after that.

How will they expect young people like me to be ready/raring to go to war (when I believe it will happen in next few years) to fight for a country that is so broken at home? We are very backwards up here in Canada too. Makes me sick.

I commented on the gooberment website regarding the limiter issue. Doubt that it will make a dent, but I can sleep well knowing I did what I could with what was available. I avoided the common driver bellyaching stuff and tried to use real world examples that show limiters, or at least the speeds they are considering, can lead to decreased safety and increased incidents of road rage from the average auto/pickup driver. Even after making the case against limiters, I offered a compromise and met them half way on the limiter issue, and offered 70 mph as a reasonable alternative and gave several examples. Sometimes one has to give a little to get a little. It all is probably for naught.
