i had actually crossed over the GWB at or about 1 AM, on my way back north. got home about 6, went to bed, woke up about 9 for the first plane to hit. thought that was an accident like has happened before, planes crashing into buildings in NY. but as i was watching the news, the second plane hit, of course now, i knew we were under attack.

I was with another driver with the same company and we were goofing off in K-Mart just killing time. Saw people on TV watching something so we watched too and found out what happened.
Even though it seemed surreal; we both looked at each other and neither of us was the least bit surprised.

I woke up late, and was late to work. Listened to coverage on the radio. Upon entering my place of employment, I found most of the staff to be in a conference room watching live coverage on the news. Worked in the IT field in those days.

Have been listenening to FOX News on XM today. Good coverage of the ceremonies today.

I'd hate to make anyone here feel old, but I was in high school. Just started grade 10. I don't remember much about the day, other than it changing everything in the world and was a common topic of discussion for pretty much the rest of the year in certain classes.

Was napping in my pickup right before work in San Jose CA, Brokaw Road interchange, we were driving pilings for the column foundations.

Heard the news bulletin about a commuter plane hitting one of the World Trade Center buildings and didn't think much of it in my bleary eyed haze and tying my boots etc I just thought a commuter plane was a Piper Cub or some such not thinking clear that this was a big deal.

Had a friend in New York City I met on the internet and called and left voicemail to her jokingly about how the WTC can't catch a break with King Kong and now planes running into then went to work for 5 hours. By the time I called her back at lunch is when I found out the towers were fricken down.

Foreman worked us 10 hours that day but none of us had our heart in it. Long drive back to Stockton CA for my commute, listening to all the news and every bridge overpass along the freeways were smothered with people and the American Flag.

Recorded some of the footage on my DVR, there was one particular angle of the second plane coming in the people videoing it were virtually underneath it. That footage was so shocking to me I deleted it and it has never re-aired again and cannot find it on youtube either.

Mayor Guiliani had come on the TV asking everyone with video to please turn it in as criminal evidence I bet those people after sharing it with the news channel had their video confiscated or destroyed it was that shocking.

True , but WHY IMPORT THEM ??? Heck they can easily walk in from Mexico . So why not build the wall. Limit the number we need to catch not inflate it.

I was working in an office in downtown Toronto. One of the guys came back from getting coffee and said one of the towers had been hit by a plane. We all thought it was a small Cessna or something. Turned on the news to find out it was a very different story. The CN Tower was shut down and everyone was evacuated from it. We were glued to the television all day.

I was running my own plumbing and heating company, we were late getting out the door when the first plane hit. One of my guys and I were volunteer firefighters, and we are close so I cancelled our jobs for the next couple days and went full time fire rescue.

I was in a dock in the Industrial Park near Cleveland Airport.
Everyone in the docks got out of their trucks and kinda gathered around one truck to listen to the radio (it was strange, but I don't think any one of us wanted to be alone).
It wasn't until later that day that I found out the plane that went down in Pennsylvania turned around directly over our heads---that was an erie feeling and thought.

I'm confident that nobody will forget that day...but I wish we were still as close as a people and a country as we were for the first year after that...I can't remember any hate, or "every man for themselves" mentality, or narcissism that we have today.
I'd say atleast 3 out of every 4 trucks on the road was flying a flag...and everyone was nice to each other.
Shame it takes a tragedy to get that type of behavior.
