I rarely move over for a 4 wheeler, If it's clear and I do ,it's just to see if they'll hang me in the left lane, they always do. They'll run 62 beside me even though it's a 75 mph road, Then I have to drift in their lane to get them to move.
Well when the OP claims that he Got out of his truck at the loves to talk with the 4 wheeler. Really? I'm mean Really? And you want to prove what? That's how people get shot, stabbed, and killed.
This job has made me hate people. It's not just that they're stupid and fail to think and drive decisively and lack situational awareness and all that. It's that then they get mad at YOU. It's like you put the average person in a car and they suddenly have the emotional maturity of an infant.
I don't carry a gun or knife or a desire to kill anyone so not sure how this guy was in any danger....i just wanted to see if he was still upset that I didn't merge over one lane for his royal princess highness.
If traffic is light I will move over. If traffic is heavy or someone is beside me I will slow down and make room for them to get on the interstate. If they then panic and do not take that space it is on them. They have the responsibility to yield and I do not have any sympathy for them. They may get pissed at me but it's their fault if they do not know how to drive. If there is a line of cars it is on them to slow down to get in behind. It seems that in the late 80's and early 90's they did not teach drivers how to merge using an on ramp.
I agree. It is like the word itself "Merge" is too difficult for the 'everybody gets a trophy' generation. I have even noticed traffic engineers replacing Merge signs with Yield signs. Yield means maintain no more than 15 miles per hour at the old merge point or crossing point, what is called slow enough to stop if you had to stop. OK 15 miles per hour is not safe speed to be trying to get up on the freeway hello? But with Merge signs, there is no set speed limit, it is up to the individual's best judgement which government types are trying to eliminate from our thinking. The government wants to be in total control of our thoughts and actions , no individual initiative or thought process allowed.
I agree with @HalpinUout ... This world is not like it used to be... You need to be careful approaching people cause you never know what kind of things will make people go over board... Anyone could be carrying some form of weapon, not like that your approaching them and next thing you dead on the ground.. I would try to save the confrontation at the truck stops all together... Sometimes a "normal" person will do something "un-normal" during a situation that is really a not a big deal...
See this every day. I don't move over for them. Used to, but it's a pain. If their car can't get up to 60 mph on the ramp, not my problem. The way I see it, if their right button doesn't work, test the left one. If that one doesn't work either... Well. Shoulda done a pre trip on that car before driving it. I wish someone would follow me to a truck stop. That'd make for some awesome times.
