I could use my phone also but I just prefer to check out the "cheap" tablet from best buy. I really prefer Qualcomm over jj Keller, only because that's what I know.

Same here just hefty price on qualcomm.
Cheap tablet is the way I'll go. -
I switch from Qualcomm to Jj Keller they are a little different and not hard to learn becuse you have a basic idea from QCRStewart Thanks this.

The biggest problem with the jj keller is forgetting to disconnect your device before taking it out of blue tooth range. It can be a pain to get it to reconnect if not disconnected properly. The same thing happens if you let the battery die and it shuts down while running the app.
77fib77, CJndaTruck, shortcut and 2 others Thank this. -
Never ran into those problems becuse like others I have a separate tablit and use my cell hotspot but for some reason after logging out my tablit won't connect to the Keller device unless I start the truck frist

Mine too.

This may be a dumb question, but I will ask it anyway. What if you get stopped for a DOT inspection in BFE and do not have service?
-
The ONLY thing you need data service for is submitting logs to mercer. The device records all day long and can be accessed if you have data or not. Now keep in mind if you have it hooked up to data when you make a duty change it will use the gps on your phone/tablet to automatically set the location, if you don't have data/gps signal you will have to manually type in the location.whoopNride and 77fib77 Thank this.

Another question from the newbies. We assumed there would be fuel surcharge but it seems you should ever assume anything. We have never not gotten it. Does Mercer just keep it?
-
You get it and it is broken out in every settlement email.
spyder7723 and mi38 Thank this.
