Enjoy the adventure, all of it, the good, the bad, the ignorant and the stupid. It is all a learning experience.
Take a moment each day to appreciate the Journey you are on. It's only new once. The first time I drove through the Virgin River Gorge... Man, what a sight. Or Utah along I70, alongside the Columbia River in Oregon... Breathtaking moments. Soak it all in, and learn all you can.
Good Luck!
Start my journey...

First two day was paperwork and some videos. Still trying to understand the log book lol. Today we drove the Millis 500 I've never drove a stick so they said I did well I think they were being nice. But it's definitely different you have to double clutch to get into gears and for some reason every other time had trouble shifting from 2nd and 3rd even tho it's straight down. I couldn't get upshifting like I wanted. And downshifting was challenging as well. I know it takes pratice but I'm real hard on myself. Tommorow we pull trailers on the 500. Wish me luck

Shifting is all rhythm, can you tango? You will get it, everyone does

Double clutching and shifting is what I will miss most when they go all auto over the year to come... I suppose autos have their place too, but there is just something about having complete control of "the pull"
You will get it, it is just like riding a bike... infinite memory retention!FLYMIKEXL Thanks this. -
Don't worry about shifting too much amigo. In six months, you'll wake up shifting gears

Today we did coupling and uncoupling I struggled a bit was a little bit nervous. I have to overcome my fear of the truck I know I need to respect it but the fear could lead me to hindering myself. My shifting is a little better than yesterday but I did well will pulling the trailer and making turns. Tommorow we start backing... Wish me luck
DRAGON64, Riffman and street beater Thank this. -
The truck is your friend, do not fear it.

Hopefully you will be logging an extended sleeper berth and not crossing into oncoming traffic when that happens.

Today we did pre trip and backing maneuvers. 4 guys did it well me and another guy struggled all day. It pisses me off because I hate being a weak link. I really want to be trucker the instructor told me not to be hard on myself but it really messed with my mind that I couldnt master backing. The good thing is I have next week to keep trying. I will remain positive because my dream is to be a trucker I want to make my family proud. Wish me luck
DRAGON64 Thanks this.
