Don't think in the chemical hauling side that's possible to have a passenger let alone pets
-
Yes,they want you "to have" and "offer a lot" but they don't offer much!!
-
I can't think of a single bulk company that allows pets. The problem is the plants, they don't allow them and if you are going to do chemical bulk then you will be doing a lot of plants.Thull Thanks this.

Disown your pet and friend passenger and your good to go tanker bulk
-
As luck would have it I pulled my first bulk trailer today as part of our "drive away" program. This means our company supplies drivers only, driving whatever tractor/trailer the customer needs to drive.
This was a midnight haul from a rig Northwest of OKC, back to the customer yard in OKC. Should have been about a four hour round trip to put $335 in my pocket, but torrential rains turned the dirt roads into a quagmire.
I followed a truck from the rig, getting into about a mile section of road with no gravel. All of a sudden he's weaving all over the place, and ends up almost jackknifed in the right ditch. I ended up sleeping in the "mini" sleeper berth for five hours, waiting for a tow truck to show up. Tow trucks were BUSY last night in OKC. -

NEVER! My friend passenger, maybe, but not the dog!
Lepton1 and free spirited1 Thank this. -
Here's the dirty secret, @Thull : most of those low-paying, yet experience required places are probably dry van or reefer truckload general freight carriers. The ones that do pay well per mile typically do so because of short hauls and low overall miles. Either way, the job is usually pretty easy, doesn't require any physical labor, and only requires rudimentary driving skills at shippers and consignees that are large and designed for big trucks, like big distribution centers.
As has been said, the experience is rewarded in specialized, LTL, labor intensive jobs like foodservice, and in private fleets like Walmart, Sherwin Williams, and Bob Evans. You'll hardly ever see one of those types of companies advertising in a free truck stop jobs magazine.
Bottom line is that you did well to get into tankers. If you find a niche, you get paid. General truckload freight is not a niche.Pintlehook, Thull, G13Tomcat and 1 other person Thank this. -
^^ well said, man.
Lepton1 and Bob Dobalina Thank this.
