How do you get into oil field work?
-
is this a twist on word?..lol

You literally just apply. There are probably 500 job postings on Dallas Craigslist. Imagine there are many more on the different Craigslist pages.

IIRC a thread was posted in the oil field forum about a year ago, where a driver took a one week vacation in Midland/Odessa and drove around making applications in person. He had several job offers to choose from. When you are in oil country you will frequently see billboards and signs at company terminals advertising for CDL drivers.
Again, the oil industry is still in a slump. Many drivers left next hey weren't making the HUGE bucks they were during the boom years. IMHO the money is still good as long as you find a niche that doesn't require ONLY oilfield work, like flatbed. If you pull a tanker hauling crude or bulk hauling sand your options are more limited.brian991219 and Thull Thank this.
