HEB. HEB probably has its own thread on here someplace. Only Hunt's Point is worse perhaps.

Yea hunts is pretty sneaky. If you are loaded particular for one of the hunts point recievers and have two or more within that place unload the first one. then kick. his. ###. out. why? He will claim you need rearrange that for 60 bucks, you go across the facility to reciever two, find that you are now charged 60 more to get it back to spec etc. Never ends.

I've come to accept the long waits at this point... I'm fortunate that it doesn't happen often, and when it does, I charge more on the lumper service. A receipt book has worked for me. This way you can produce a valid receipt for my broker.
A few times in the rate con it'll state "driver must have x amount for lumper" and often times the lumper has been less than the required amount, so more free money.
Otherwise if it's a place you have been to before, charge more in the rate or have detention stated.

I've heard one independent owner operator at one of these places talking to the guy in the window about lumpers. He said something to the effect of "look, you can take it off my trailer or you can pick it up off the asphalt in the parking lot, I don't care which, but I'm not paying you to take it off my trailer." I didn't stick around to see how that worked out.

The whole thing is a racket.First a "numbskull" salesman at a drivers company accepts a brokered load.Hes gonna make 40-60 dollars to do nothing. He or she is "unaware" that it requires $125 to $350 lumpers fee.You show up at Sysco and they say"these pallets are mixed, require restacking.Wait a minute...I have to pay you,to deliver your product to you?? Meanwhile the "receiving clerk" drinks a 64oz big gulp and listens to her ipod speaker.Splits the "take" with her 4 man lumper crew.Company lost money.Salesman got his $40.You spent all day at Sysco.LOL

In defense of one particular Sysco, Pokomoke City around the 114 above the Chesapeake Bridge Tunnel System that one always unloaded, no matter what time I came out of the bullpen after arriving in the night however many hundreds or thousands of miles run to get there.

Don't come here to Little Rock Sysco. You will be a while. It's a small sysco compared to what bigger ones are east of us.
