Good. Pick another dock and back into that for giggles when you get empty. Do it three times in three different docks. Get that lessons and so forth beat into your brain and ready for next time.

I'm a fan of reverse clutch driving, no need for the gas.... seen too many Swift drivers stomp the accelerator in high-range reverse... *shakes head*pattyj, Boattlebot and TROOPER to TRUCKER Thank this.
-
Sooo many drivers don't realize that worksx1Heavy, KillingTime and Boattlebot Thank this.

Yea I don't need to go 20 in reverse... Low range is plenty. I want to be the one swift truck that doesn't hit ####.KillingTime Thanks this.

I'm sure it's been said but it takes the trailer a second before it reacts. That's where a lot of over steering comes from. Just wait and see where the trailer is headed.
Boattlebot Thanks this. -
They're showing off thinking ya I'm big I'm bad get out of my way.Not any different then a truck stop near one of their terminals or drop yards. It really was pathetic seeing them barrell thru parking lots.TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.

find a large empty parking lot with painted lines, straight back keeping the the tandem tires on the line.. one side and the other

I suppose they fail to realize how an engaged transmission is going to work. I wish I could even feign surprise.TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this.

The best thing is just practice til you own it. I'm a great backer now but I wasn't always. I remember early on, I tried to back into a spot one day and 14 pullups later I just could not get off the line and just pulled the air valve.

I learned how to back by taking a wrong turn thru a corn field; got 3/4 thru the section and realized it was not open on the other side. So had to back out 3000+'. After that goat rope move I realized how much over steering I had been doing for a while ( corn scarping bumper on both sides). After I got over the thought of scratching my dads truck. The narrow two track actually helped me learn to back up better.
Now dont go find a corn field just to practice, you might get shoot. Use the lines in and empty lot like previous op said.
Wow that was like 35 years ago, wonder if I could still do it and jack knife back on COUNTY ROAD.TROOPER to TRUCKER and Boattlebot Thank this.
