I'm afraid it's the other way around- you can't hang. Elsewhere trucks can run 60-65 depending on the jurisdiction (makes it easier to maintain traffic flow on the highways). And some of us have better things to do than hang around "Calif*****" waiting for freight.
And the air is a lot cleaner- even with some of the older trucks running around(it ain't our fault CA has air quality issues-especially around L.A.).
When you get that earthquake and wildfire issue ironed out, then we'll talk.![]()

Living in california for all of my life.
Earthquakes are a bit over exaggerated. Wildfires however are definitely a serious issue if you live on the rural country areas.
LA sucks period. However there are some more desirable parts of california such as yosemite national park, seqouia national park, sierra nevada has a lot of lakes for great fishing, hunting, san diego has some nice beaches, san francisco is beautiful.
There is a whole other side to california that most people dont know about.LindaPV Thanks this. -
My family has a different point of view on that matter. I lost a great aunt due to the Northridge earthquake back in 1994. And wildfires aren't just a rural issue. That situation came to head for one of my wife's friends and her family when they were looking at mandatory evacuation orders back in 2014-and they live in La Jolla.

Gardner trucking Chino..based in La Mirada...I been with Gardner about 3 yrs now, started out driving for an owner operator contracted with Gardner (Tharco) for a year then quit to run 11 western with Keystone came back to Gardner a year later and applied as a Gardner driver, they hired me without no hassel regardless of my previous felonies. They will give an ex con a chance Ive seen it so many times. Did P/U and delivery vans for like 17 months at 16.00 hr but plenty of over time then transfered to a Port driver man I dig it they pay well too 18hr then 20.00 after 6 months depending on your eval if your pulling your weight you will get the 20. All the dispatchers I've worked with at Chino and Manteca have all treated me good. Any time I've needed something for my truck Gardner maintence dept took care of it. I have no complaints and have seen and heard alot of drivers sniveling about this and that especially the ones that been driving for Gardner 5 years plus I dont get it then why do they stay why dont they move on?? Upper management have treated me with respect also, yea thats true they are shysty about giving raises but theres plenty of ways around that like overtime quit being lazy and work

Most drivers at Gardner would like to but cant move on. Most of them just want to be steering wheel holders. That is cool if all you want out of life is $16 - 18 hr. Hard to live on in CA, especially in SoCal or the Bay area. That is your solution to low pay? Work harder? Wow Gardner sure does have you drinking the cool aid
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
It's get better, CRST bought out Gardner, and they already offering lease packages. The drivers at Gardner don't have a clue what's coming down the the road. I have warned my contact there to beware.....
