Are there any SOLO drivers who only spend 10 hours in the sb then get rolling again everyday? Or do the majority have a set time they wake up and start driving.
Like If you stopped driving at 5pm. Are you waking up at 3am to get rolling again? Or do you wait until 6-7
Max time you spend in sleeper birth?

Only 10 in the berth, only?

Depends on the load. Sometimes delivery is tight and you can't lolly gag in sleeper. 10 is up, time to goThull, Lepton1, MachoCyclone and 3 others Thank this.

I'll probably have about 20 hours in the sleeper tonight. Dispatch won't adjust the pickup time to earlier in the day, but then it's a just in time load. Ugh. Next couple days will be clock-watching breaks....

As a general rule an OTR driver uses line2 (off duty sleeper berth) when off duty away from home. How long you actually stay in the sleeper is up to you.

You mean those things behind the cab... you're supposed to spend 10hrs there??
I thought it was just a comfortable spot to do paperwork and make phone calls.ShooterK2, Thull, TequilaSunrise and 12 others Thank this. -
My dispatcher runs me pretty hard, about once a week I will ask them to set it up so I can have a 14, but that's about it.

Depends on load appt times or whether it's a drop I know can make early.
If the appt time is fixed and I know the consignee won't take me early, then I will stretch out my breaks to suit my desired arrival time.
If I can drop early, or the trip plan is tight, then I am in the driver's seat, belted in, with both hands on the wheel at 9:59hrs waiting for the flag to drop.Lepton1, MidWest_MacDaddy, Dharok and 3 others Thank this. -
Whenever you step into the sleeper you must log Sleeper. When you get out of the Sleeper (say during your 10 hour break) you would then log Off Duty. Be careful not to log too much time in the sleeper like your whole 10 because the officer will ask you where you went to the restroom. Of course you'll say you walked into the truck stop. Then he slaps you with a $1000 fine for log falsification.
But your question is screaming "I Don't Know How To Trip Plan" . A lot of the loads are preplanned with about a 10 hour break and two 30 minute breaks and of course and estimated (un)load time of a couple hours each way. So pretty tight usually. Some loads are more forgiving than others and you can get an 11 hour break between driving. Others are very tight and you are driving/30 minute break/driving/strict 10/ and driving again right on around the clock where ever the time may fall.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
