Wasn't super busy when I was there either. Only 3 trucks in the play pen and one of those was a BT Swifty.

It is illegal to park ANYWHERE alongside ANY of the freeways from the ports to Indio. Just because hundreds of trucks can be found parked in these areas does not make it right.

Wal-Mart held me and another swift for 6 hours, I ran out of time just stayed put doors closed Infront of the dock, no one even offered to bother me. I'm shutting down in Jonestown. The downside, Wal-Mart just killed my chances of a 34. But I'm out of here and shutting down at Jonestown.

Certainly be OK for the 2 hour portion of the 8/2 split along at any offramp/onramp wide-out.

I don't think its ever a smart move to park on a ramp or wide spot to do a break whether its 30 minutes, 2 or 10 hours. I see it as nothing more than piss poor trip planning. In the 615,000 miles I've driven for Swift and the 2.6 million miles total that I've driven I've never had to do it .

    I agree 100%

I'll admit to spending the night on a I-5 off ramp after finding the rest area I planned to stay at closed, the truck stop 5 miles down the road full, and then a sign stating that I-5 was closed 20 miles ahead due to an accident. The ONLY time I've stopped on the shoulder was for a blown tire.

TA Morris, IL. 1350 miles to where I'm delivering in SLC. Got an open window from the 14th to the 17th.

I like open windows, and I don't have one.
A live unload in MN at 0300 on the 13th.

I delivered a load at 0500 this morning. The plan said live unload, the customer said drop.
The only trouble was that there were no mt's and I had a live load after that.
A swift trailer had just been docked by the yard dog when I came in, so I would have to wait for that to be unloaded before I could actually deliver my load.
They would not unload me because there was no room for the cans, and they were not sure what was happening yet. It's a JIT place - Pepsi.
I waited nearly 4 hours for that to happen.
Who knows, I might get some detention pay out of it, since the guard put the later time as the delivery time on the BOL.

I didn't mind too much because my next load didn't pick up until 1300, as I said a live load.

I headed straight for my next shipper hoping to get loaded early. I got there at 0930.
    Guess what?
He said the load is ready. When the next truck pulls out in about 15 minutes we'll get you loaded.
I was out of there by 1030.
    Sweet.
