Kinda interesting of what could be the problem with the note 7.
There's a possibility that samsung could remotely disable any note 7 still in public hands. Also, no more support, no new updates, maybe carriers could stop signal to any note 7, no more accessories....
I got about 2 more weeks with this phone until I get some some time. Hate to let it go but i might have to go with the s7 edge.
Now not just the Notes...

Verizon is now starting to get "hot" about getting all the Note 7's back. I got an E-Mail yesterday and called them. They are giving folks about 30 days to make the transition. I think Samsung is giving till the end of the year if you got it from them, but I suspect this may change.
Verizon's stance is if you do not exchange pretty much support will not be available and after the trade in period is gone, you will not be able to use the Note 7 for any type of trade in/exchange. -
Verizon is now offering a $100 bill credit if you exchange it for another Samsung product or $25 if a non-Samsung product.
Any items such as cases or screen protectors will be credited back to you and you can keep them.
If you bought on the "time-share", they should have already credited those months you have paid so far.
If you do this before Oct 16th, Verizon will offer free overnight shipping. -
I got these messages today from Sprint. My note 7 is the second gen.

Traded in my S6 Edge for the 1st gen Note 7. I waited about 4 days before I started to activate the Note. Saw the recall (1st gen), waited a week and 2nd gen was not due in. So, I took the Note 7 back to the store and returned it. I am still on my 6 Edge. Two weeks later the 2nd gen comes in. I take my 6 Edge to trade in. Now the first time the system tagged my contract on my 6 edge as fulfilled. So the store did not know what to do with the 6 edge. So, a week later the recall came on the 2nd gen. In the meantime I still have my 6 edge also. I get my bill last week and they charged me for the last 25% I owed, even though the store said the contract was fulfilled. So I called Verizon and they reversed the 25% and he told me to give it 5 business days to take and then I can actually trade in my 6 edge for the 7 edge. So it has been somewhat of a bill nightmare with the two recalls and the original contract on the 6 edge...Last edited: Oct 15, 2016

Now I'm debating to get the s7 edge or just go back with my note 4 until note 8 comes out

I went and swapped out my note 7 with an s7 edge today. while at the sprint store there was a sprint corporate rep there answering questions for customers. he stated more than once that samsung is weighing the idea of doing away with the note series all together

What if I want to exchange my Galaxy Note7 for another Samsung smartphone?
As a sign of our appreciation for your patience and loyalty, we are offering up to a $100 bill credit from select carrier or retail outlets if you exchange your Galaxy Note7 for another Samsung smartphone, less any incentive credits already received.
