Well to keep the office quiet we will log a full PTI each person each time we cone on duty. No matter to us we spend the time doing it anyway but saved the log book hours before. All good

We use Peoplenet. Both logged in always. First driver does 10 min pretrip (comp policy). Inter trip after first 50 miles then every 150 after that. Time for co-driver to start. Driver 1 will log on to post trip simultaneously driver 2 will log his pre trip so we are both doing company mandated inspections at same time.
It works for us since we are normally topping off fuel at change overs.

    TequilaSunrise and EWV Thank this.

The one time I dealt with a team driving situation my co-driver finished his shift, did his thing then hit the bunk. I did a quick walk-around and found one of the inside trailer tires was completely flat.

Its always a good idea to do an inspection when you assume control of the vehicle even if your partner supposedly already did one.

He didn't really have to log any time for Post TI. Just flagging it is good enough.

Ugh, I hate sleeping in a moving truck. (I also hate sleeping while somebody else is driving it. *rimshot*)

I picked up a recovery driver a few months ago, he was hitching a ride to get to a particular truck shop where an abandoned truck was sitting. Anyway, I was able to use this recovery driver to drive after my shift to make up time on the load I was under. So I go back to lie down and a couple hours later I hear rumble strips intermittently. I pull back the curtains and see he is watching some movie on his smart phone up there. Then I look in his mirror and see the green light on the reefer isn't green, but amber. I say dude we gotta pull over and check that. I had him get off at the next exit, intending for him to take the offramp, get back on the onramp so I could get up on the catwalk and go pee while he cleared the alarm. Instead he pulled off the offramp right in the triangle area directly in front of the milemarker exit sign, perfect position for being rear ended. Plus too many witnesses to public pee in hiding there.

Later on we shut down and went to bed, sometime after midnight I hear him get up and piss into his jug inside the truck. I was like hell no. couldn't wait to get that guy off my truck. I am forever ruined on team driving now after only one day.

You literally couldn't pay me enough to be cooped up in a truck with some other a-hole day after day. I'll drive solo anywhere, any time of day, any day of the week and not whine (too loudly) about it, but that's where I draw the line.

What is an inter trip? Just a walk around after a couple hours of driving? When you say you check the pins are you pulling doubles?

    TequilaSunrise Thanks this.

As far as I know, the intertrip-- stopping to check things every 3 hours or 150 miles is no longer required even for hazmat loads. With hazmat the only requirement is to check things every time you stop.
