I don't think many drivers realize this but sometimes you don't get fired for being at fault as much as you get fired for "contributory reasons". As I type this out I am thinking about a dump truck driver near my home town that was fired because he was speeding when he hit a car backing out of the driveway. Just saying, sometimes we drivers get lost in fault no fault and lose sight of these kinds of things. In your case I can also look at this as someone in a safety dept might. Why did you not slow down and anticipate? I have heard safety people ask these kinds of questions. I can't tell you how many times over the years I have seen drivers get into trouble for not making adjustments in these situations. It stinks and it sucks but we drivers must anticipate these situations and take CORRECTIVE ACTIONS before an accident happens.
Was terminated for this accident.

Would you please show me where a deer is a fixed object. In 2011 I had a deer hit my tractor in northern Mississippi and do some damage to my Volvo. I went on up into Tennessee and after 8AM called it in. Safety wanted photo's and that was all that was said to me. Next time I got to the terminal I was told to go to the body shop and they replaced my hood and repainted it. I asked safety and was told it was just a road hazard. Nothing about that ever hit my DAC.x1Heavy Thanks this.

Earlier in the thread someone postd about being charged with a preventable crash for a collision with a deer. My post was in response to that. Basically when you are talking with the insurance adjuster about the deer collision it is important to state the deer was in motion, preferably running from the roadside toward the road as opposed to saying "Yeah, um I was just driving along and hit this deer standing still in the road..." the insurance person will judge that the same as hitting a fixed object like a car up under the right side of the trailer while making a right turn for example.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.

Yeah that's BS you got fired if that's really what happened. A lot of those FedEx Ground contractors are shady scumbags. They probably did you favor.

Yeah i agree with Brandonpdx on that one.

Sorry, but I kind of agree here...58 with an accident scene approaching? Always expect people rubber-necking and not paying attention to their surroundings. If you rear-ended someone, it's your fault unless you can prove through video that something else happened, ie. Brake checked or in your case, just a stupid ### driver not paying attention.TequilaSunrise Thanks this.

Dash cam is a very wise investment, would have cleared everything up. And holding your lane, no matter what also helps.
And you made it out without a charge or citation, that's a huge plus. -

Nailed it right there. 99% of FedEx Ground are nothing but ### holes. Hang out with Transam for a bit and then move on. You can find better.
