There are some drivers who enjoy trucking so much, that as long as they are driving a truck, it does not matter to them what the load pays. That's okay if u are a company driver, but not a good plan if it's your own truck

 

True, these idiots think that 'if you're moving you're making money' which is NOT true. You have to calculate how much it costs your to run your truck per mile before you start making any money.

 

You got $4 per mile from MI to Dallas? About $5000??

 

Yea. 4.9k but I'm a conestoga.

 

I'm sure it is different for everyone. 50% of my loads are just FB loads. 25% are 8' tarp loads and 25% are CON loads. It's the last 25% that really pay at times.

 

Mi to Texas for $5,000? 1100 miles

Bowling or Long haul trucking will move a Detroit to DFW for $2200-$2400 All Day any Week with the prettiest of conestogas..

Specialized equipment with a proven track record gets Specialized Dependable pay. Does he make that kind of money every single day? Certainly not. But it happens often enough.

 

I know cj well. He is at the same carrier i am at. That rate doesnt happen all day every day, but it happens. Sometimes a customer is in a bind and willing to throw out a very high number so you immediately say yes. A few years back i got 11k to go to cali out of key west florida. 2500ish miles. You just get lucky, right place right time kind of thing. Being the only truck in the area and they don't got time to shop for another carrier.

 

Its a rarity..But I suppose your right. In the real world market for flats with connies wont support more than $2400 to DFW..Just too many willing to do it for that, And LOWER! If you can believe it.
