Anyone else see rates skyrocket this week and capacity become extremely thin? Any insight on why? Is it combination of end of month and after holiday or is it drivers leaving for high peak season pay at UPS/Fed Ex temporarily? Any and all insight appreciated, drive safe and keep trucking everyone.

Rates have skyrocketed? I run a dry van on west coast only. Rates are up some on the southbound lane, rates & capacity out of L.A. to the PNW are okay, buy nothing like skyrocketing.

Midwest was up this week, at least according to a few lease drivers I talked to at the Schneider OC.

I sat for almost 24 hours south of Atlanta waiting on my company to find a load that was at an acceptable freight rate.

Midwest has skyrocketed, I can confirm that. This week was the best for my two trucks out of the whole 2016.
Election is over and it's the month before Christmas. Hope it stays this way in the New Year

Atlanta is only busy in May-June. Try to go there in January and you can sit there till March waiting for a decent rate

24 hours south of Atlanta? So you were in Venezuela? And ferried your truck across the Gulf? :biggrin_2556:

They have been known to deadhead me from my house in the black hole of outbound freight (a.k.a. FL) to the Atlanta area for a load...in fact, I delivered to one of the customers I use to pick up at in College Park...guess we didn't have anything available.

    Check this noise out........

I use this particular Broker for some return loads outta the Mid-Atlanticv(NC-VA-DE-MD)

He has Carriers pulling High Dollar Steel tubing from Chicago to Atlanta 44k for $1000-$1050

I said "Why would you ##### them like that?" he responded"Cause its their "Backhaul" back down..

Oh,So you keep $600-$700 because you can get away with it huh? (In a concerned but relaxed way,so I don't anger this particular Broker,Because I need some of his return moves....

Point is........See What Free Markets Can do to Innocent people trying to make a living?? Now...Since he can "Get away with it".... Innocent carriers wanting Georgia freight outta Chicago from this broker will suffer.

I would give a left arm to Regulate freight lanes again- Disarm useless carriers with no business knowledge..And Cut the 3pl Party in HALF!!
