8/2 SLEEPER SPLIT QUESTIONS

Whatever hours he had left on his 11 hour drive time and 14 hour on duty clock he gets back after 8 hours in sleeper. And then after he takes his 2 hour off duty break he gets back the drive time and on duty time that he used before he took his 8 in the sleeper.

 

So if he went into sleeper for 8 hours and he had 5 hours left on his drive and 8 left on his on duty then he would have that to work with after 8 hours in sleeper. Drive those 5 hours and take 2 off duty. He would then get back 6 hours he previously drove before his sleeper time and 6 hours on duty time.

 

The eight hour sleeper berth stops your clock. The two hour does not, so if he takes 6 he's burning up good hours.

 

After the two hour break, you'll get back all your time minus whatever time you used as if you had a full clock that started at the end of the eight hour sleeper berth. You must also subtract the 2 hours you spent off duty from your 14, so if you sit for 6 hours, that time is ticking away because the 2 hour break doesn't stop your clock.

An example would be, after your 8 hour break, you do a 15 minute pre-trip, drive 30 minutes to a truck stop spending 15 minutes off duty there, then drive 1 hour to shipper, then spend 2 hours off duty. Your clock will appear as follows:

11 - 1.5 hrs drive = 9.5
14 - .25 - .5 - .25 - 1 - 2 = 10
6 hour break = 6 hours on 14

after an 8 hr break, if you subtract 2 and divide by four, you will have the hours left that you started with before dividing by four but not after subtracting 2, and if you sleep 2 hrs after the 8 then you will have to subtract the 2 and divide by 4 before knowing how many you will have left on your 11,14 or 70, or you can ask the suits in washington to explain it since they created it but they will just confuse you.

yes but the 2 doesnt stop ur 14
