For right now, I'm pulling reefer, so I just have a pair of Merrell hiker boots. For summer, I have tennis shoes, and then flipflops just to drive in....

Double H makes a real nice pull on leather boot they got a few styles but I've always been partial to the square toe and I wear those boots doing everything from riding the motorcycle cutting the grass or just going to the grocery store and they hold up real well wearing them everyday day in Day Out now they have to buy a new pair every 6 to 8 years Carolina's make a real nice boot also. @heavy I know your post was months back about your boots but check out Double H Boots there exactly like the ones you were describing for driving the truck

I was actually wanting to buy slip on steel toed boots, as a lot of drivers and roughnecks wear them and up until now I preferred driving in socks. But after trying on dozens of boots at Boot Barn I chose Chippewa high top lace ups. I wear them all the time, driving or working. The reason I didn't choose the slip on style is that I can't get a precise feel for climbing on and around my load. I pull flatbed, and with the kind of freight I haul to oil rigs I need to be on the deck and have complete awareness of where I am placing my feet. Slip ons feel sloppy, especially when trying to stand on a narrow edge.

I've worn 3 pairs of Timberlands, if I had to buy another pair I'd get another pair of TImberlands.

i wear slip ons almost 24/7 now. i am active doing guy stuff when not at work and am not crazy about shoes. i spent 11 years in the drilling industry and then went to food delivery via ramp, i've prob owned 100 different pairs of boots.

non work - wolverine non insulated soft toe slip ons.

work - red wing composite toe slip ons. 1 pair insulated, 1 pair not.

back ups - matterhorn 10" lace up and a pair of whites 10" lace ups. both of those are everything but insulated. kevlar lined, waterPROOF, steel toe etc etc.

i have a pair of mickey mouse boots i wear when not at work and it's subzero.

    non work - https://www.wolverine.com/US/en/bre...ks&prefn2=toeFeatures&prefv2=Soft-Toe&start=1

    work - http://www.redwingshoes.com/red-win...2272-red-wing-mens-11-inch-pull-on-boot-brown

and - ok i do not see my insulated pair on the website. i've had them 6 years so i assume they've discontinued production.

my fav all around boot for comfort, waterproof, warm etc is these: ok so i don't see them either. oh well.

i clean and oil mine every 2 weeks like clockwork. i use dawn dishsoap, a stiff bristle brush, and a hair dryer to dry them. then i LIBERALLY apply mink oil and put them on the boot dryer (with heat). sounds backwards but i believe it gives the oil a chance to warm up and soak in. my boots are very dark now from oil but are 100% waterproof and in excellent shape minus any cuts or other hard damage.

just a little side note on the Double H slip-on square toe boots that I wear daily each pair that I've ever owned have usually lasted me between 6 and 8 years and yes I've had to have them be healed from time to time but I have never polished or put any kind of protection on the leather boots and have never had a problem with them cracking or the leather deteriorating and anyway that's how amazingly awesome These Boots Are. they have been a great boot for me and I will continue to buy these boots even after my back goes and I'm in a wheelchair at 90 years old I will still wear and continue to buy this style this brand of boot.

IMHO, can't go wrong with Danners, steel toe or not. A little pricey but I wear them, steel toe, at work 7 days a week on concrete and climbing all over airplanes and never have foot or back problems and my feet have never been cold. They're also Gortex which is handy.
