When I was driving a milk tanker for KCTL, my routes were in the area of Tulare to Fresno. I went to the same 9 dairies every night. The fog got so heavy that I would miss a driveway sometimes. Getting turned around was a challenge.
I have seen some terrible wrecks in the fog -
I drove by the 2 crash scenes at noon going north. It was definitely the fog, and driving too fast for conditions. That area is known for it. I've had to pull off the highway a few times before, it can be really dangerous.Diesel Dave Thanks this.

I know what you mean. I use to haul LPG back in the early 80's out of West Bakersfield area (Elk Hills, Taft). Couldn't see the turn offs and missed a few. Btw, KCTL was Ketttleman City Truck Lines if Im not mistaken. Beige color trucks with red stripe.Bean Jr. Thanks this.

I remember one cold foggy night, was going south on I-5, between Buttonwillow and the 5 /99 merge, anyways, it was so cold that the fog moisture ICE up my windshield. The fog was bad enough, but when it ice up the windshield, I just crossed my fingers hoping I wouldn't run into anything as I pulled off the road. Had to changed my shorts too.
