There's a flatbed company in Kenly that hires new grads; Howard Transportation.
Probably get decent hometime since they haul dedicated freight for Howard Transportation. I think those loads have to be tarped. -
Passed a Howard flatbed last night outside of Breezewood, PA and admired his tarp job as I went by.Chinatown Thanks this.

A job opening very soon at Averitt--
TROOPER to TRUCKER Thanks this. -
To the OP, you must talk to current drivers operating out of the Service Center you expect to work from. Some yards have too many drivers getting low miles & others have too much freight & not enough drivers. The company is honest & benefits are good. But miles are a terminal by terminal proposition. You will likely be home each weekend unless you want to stay out. Your truck will be parked at the terminal.
If you have to drive to the Terminal/Service Center and speak to drivers. Have the person you are talking to at Avrt arrange it if you need to. Some yards are locked down to outsiders.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
Averitt allows tattoos & piercings if they are covered. They allow neat facial hair. This has been true for a few years.Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this.

Well I agree with @tscottme arrange a meeting with current drivers from the yard you wanting to work from, I been with averitt for a while as I started regional and now I'm a local driver with them. I know some of the fellow drivers here who have worked at averitt has had a bad experience with the company but you must weight the bad and the good as no company going to meet everybody needs, heck even abilene express who has a good reputation has some unhappy drivers so therefore no company can't make all drivers happy. as far as my own experience I can say they work for me. Good luck on your search

One thing to keep in mind about Averitt and OTR. Your delivery appointments are usually as early as the company opens. However, you most likely won't get dispatched on a backhaul until the middle of the afternoon. You better sleep from empty until dispatch. I never worked OTR for them. I'e heard the above from various drivers in various places with the company.Nubb909 Thanks this.
