I talked at length with a nice recruiter, and decided that I definitely needed some form of refresher... Qualcoms and elogs etc etc is what the recruiter said they would need to train me on... Since most everyone is going all auto, there is not much to train on driving. I would suppose they would want to know if I could back up when required to do so...:)

Have you looked in to Sapa; Knight's flatbed fleet? Not sure what hauls/freight you are shooting for. TMC might also be a flatbed option for you; with little to no investment in a week refresher course.

With so much experience I'd stay away from the starter companies. You can do much better.

You don't have carrier OTR experience within the last 3 years. Most insurance companies require this for the carrier. Dragging around a 48' foot trailer around for a high school band does not count.

I want to stress the word carrier. In other words.....you have no real OTR experience with a carrier. Sorry for being blunt but that is the truth.

I am looking for mainly dry van, with reefer as an outside option. Thanks for the options.

I hear that alot, and have been trying to not go there... but Knight peeked my interest after I watched the 4 of 5 videos they posted.

Yeah, lack of experience seems to be my biggest obstacle, government or commercial.

I don't doubt you a bit. I talked for an hour or so with the recruiter from Titan, and he said as much. He stated that he would have to train me more than just to drive'. He said he would have to have a driver teach me to be a road driver... which he said is a way of life, or a whole new life style. Driving was a small portion of it, as is elogs, and qualcoms and policy, policy, policy! However, he said that a month with a trainer, and if the trainer thought I was ready, they would evaluate me and possibly assign me a truck then. It was a very good talk.

That's a good idea, then go with Schneider Bulk division and make the big bucks.
Schneider Bulk or Danny Herman; two good choices.

Out of curiosity I did look into an accredited refresher course at the local community college, and the cost to me would be $712 for 40-hours. Danny Herman and Titan both did not seem to think I needed it, nor do I. I will look at Schneider again, but it is so tough to look past that ugly orange color... :)
