Hi I am looking to add 3rd truck to my fleet for a very nice responsible experinced driver.
my budget is under 35 k and i am just torn in to what to buy. Currently I have 2002 century with detroit 12.7 taht runs great . its and old truck but the driver doesnt mind. my 2nd truck is 2006 columbia with detroit 14ltr.
I got lucky with both of these trucks and i am hoping to get lucky again.
The 3rd driver i got doesnt mind 2006 but nothing older than that .
Some of my options are : 2006-2009 volvos with isx egr-delete and roughly 700-800k miles
or 2009-2010 columbias with detroits with egr around 700k miles
and the cascadias dd15 with around 600 k miles
or do i go with a 06 volvo with fully rebuilt isx engine cyrrent milege 40k but original miles 1.4.
I am experinced owner op. ill do my research and background checks on all these trucks .. but just wanted to get your thoughts from all you vets out there .... i know its kinda broad QUESTION . but just give me your opinions on what would you do -especially with the dd15 ( i hear bad things about them )
I always depended on this site and your opinions and it has always helped me to stir up my thinking .

here are currently 3 trucks i am looking at

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/cto/5931106101.html - has been seating for 5 months ! 2 owners , 1st owner swift op. 2nd guy pulled heavy loads to british columbia for 1 year . doubles . he bought a pete but still owes on this truck ..doesnt make sense . i oasked what he thoight about 25 k and he he would consider 29

2nd truck NO PIC YET. 2006 volvo isx , 1.4 miles . 13 speed eathon..40k on 30000 miles rebuilt by volvo . pulled mail light fedex loads teams oregon-idaho and back 5 drivers drove it . 1 original owner . didnt make offer yet

3rd http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/5929465931.html ad says it all...... these are just few samples on whats outhere ... any information and thoughts would be appreciated .

What about a REAL nice pre EGR for the 3rd driver?

Ask him what kind of trucks pre 2003 that he likes, and find a real nice one ?

    buddyvuk and Dominick253 Thank this.

I was just thinking of the possibility of trying to keep a driver happy, but in a more reliable truck.

Nothing comes cheap either way, I guess.

How about you ask that third driver if he is fond of eating. You can try to accommodate some drivers but nothing older than 2006? You dictate your business equipment. The driver has a choice, get in the driver's seat or go home.

Safety issues are entirely another thing. That the driver has a say in but that is it.

You are a business owner, not a drinking buddy. Those have to be kept separate.

I drive a '98 KW T800 and an '86 Pete 359. Both are tight trucks and don't rattle or shake. Much of what makes a tight truck is finding what makes a rattle and fixing it. If you take the attitide that any rattle is a bad rattle, then you'll have a tight truck. However, we have two T2000's and I would stay away from them or any plastic truck.
