To my knowledge the truck does not have an engine brake. It's a older model truck. I believe 96 international

Seems like you guys are saying just use the brakes? Just trying to wrap my head around this. Like I previously stated, I was in a automatic for some time, so all the down shifting was done for me as I used my brakes.

You still have to downshift manually. Understand with the Super 10 there is no range shift. It is called Split shift.

What you will do is touch your brakes to bring your RPM's down to about 1200-1000 or so, you will have to mess around with it to find its sweet spot. Bring rpms down then clutch in an inch, take stick out of gear, let off clutch, touch throttle quickly to bring rpms up around 1400 and clutch back 1 inch and try to put the stick in the next lower gear or splitter down if you kept it in the hole. As the rpms drop there is a fine sweet spot to slip the gearshift with no grinding.
Be careful though The Super 10 was the first transmission they dumbed down as what they thought was the easiest transmission built but still drivers found ways to destroy it.

What i mean is the perfect rpms to put in that lower gear without grinding. Usually around 1300 rpm. So what we do is bump up the throttle to about 1400 rpm and as the rpms are dropping we are trying to get it in gear around 1300, should slip right in. Now the rpms will climb up giving your some engine braking power along with the brakes. If you have the time and distance, you might be able to downshift again.

With the Super 10 you can skip the splits and do like @lagbrosdetmi said and take it out of 10th gear, go to 8th gear then go to 6th gear by then you're going slow enough to stop the final distance with just brakes.

Aaah, makes sense. If you have the time think you can make a video on it? I know this sounds crazy as hell lol but I would appreciate it greatly. Like I said before, being in a auto made me complacent as hell man.

Since I've been driving the super 10 I find it easier to downshift at about 1000 rpms take it out of gear rev up and boom she goes right in. Also, I don't have to double clutch doing it that way either. Seems like she falls right out of gear at that Mark. Granted I'm Bob tail doing this, but for some reason it's working.

I wasn't sure if you knew or remembered how to float the gears without the clutch. Funny how the world works, you're going from a auto to a stick and i just did the opposite.
