Picking up a load near Colton today...it drops at SLC. I'll have about 162 hours when we roll into SLC. Still havnt got to Texas for my CDL so I'm thinkin we'll get a Texas load out of SLC....and I may end up doing my upgrade in Laredo, which wouldn't bother me...shorter ride home from there.

I'm not trying to start anything but, How can you effectively train somebody when you have next to zero experience?
-
Valid question. I think someone with as little as 6 months experience can train company policy and procedures, safe driving practices, etc. Dont you?
-
You can learn policy and procedure from a book, driving a truck , not so much.
-
I say go for it , in the end its "all about the money."
-
Yessir...I hear what your saying. Not everyone is cut out to be an Driver Trainer, that's a fact. I do believe though...that if your not capable of passing on safe driving practices, backing techniques, etc., no matter your time in service, there's an issue there, lol.Ooops Thanks this.

No, in the end it's all about survival, You can't train somebody from the bunk (CR England just got an exemption for this so it is safe to say it's policy) You can't teach something you don't know. You have a driver with weeks worth of experience being trained by a driver with months worth of experience. You have placed a 62mph 80000 lb projectile in the hands of the untrained. Time in service does not make you a safe driver , but does give you situational awareness, you can't teach what to do if you don't know what to do.Last edited: Jan 23, 2017

I appreciate the input. We'll see how things pan out.
P608...your completely correct...situational awareness is a valued commodity.
I may not even want to train in the end...lol. Gonna be a lot of stress there with some students...I'm sure.
