Montgomery brought the affiliate concept to the merger though Circle C had the 'Cycle' concept, company units aside, we backhauled the lease operator with the lowest percentage under that program, in theory but the reality was cover the freight!
The affiliates were, sometimes smaller carriers who came into the program with their captive shipper. I believe this has grown under Quality. some are good some are not your mileage may vary
Quality Carriers, pull cheap freight, get fired for being sick

Some of those trailers I see rolling down the road look like they belong in the Smithsonian. I was leased on with CL back in the mid 90s and they were old then.

If you need a company that uses DAC to get some initial experience in this industry use them for that. From my experience any company that Uses DAC can besmirch your reputation even when you leave on good terms.
Most companies that use DAC/HIRERIGHT are terrible.
I this day and age all you need is a good driving record, clean criminal record, even a good work history seems to matter less and less...you can find a decent company but they seldom advertise. Do some old fashioned door knocking, you'd be amazed at what you can find without sitting at home moping on the internet.
The mega carrier CDL Mills are turning out steering wheel holders faster than the old hands are quitting or dying.
Even with the dawn of electronic logs I think you can still make better money in the long run at a small 30 truck or less operation. If you are single, finding a small outfit that has health insurance or any benefits is a challenge, but they are out there.
Today's snowflakes expect a big sign on bonus, paid sattelite TV, a new 579 Pete every two years, bonuses galore, Trophies every year for not wrecking a truck and killing people. Your 2300 mile week with bonuses still won't add up to 3000 mile weeks at a decent company.
Forgot DAC, Find a good company, keep the left door shut and drive. -

Interesting....the carrier games continue. They constantly try to control drivers with fear and retaliate by tossing the driver in the trash.....then whine when no one applies.
They constantly try to keep money away from the driver and then whine when no one stays.
They never learn.
The definition of crazy is when you keep doing the same thing and expect different results lol......carrier management! The Patriot Thanks this. -
Pick any and they are all the same and sadly even some smaller companies model themselves on these. As long as a warm body is behind the wheel moving their cheap freight....they don't care.
