Learn to use your chains!

So tell me how much extra pay you guys get for chaining up and then having to drive slow in bad weather.

 

If any state gets the snow Its ND.I like that state but in the summer,not so much in the winter.

 

Got a 40 inch base in my backyard

 

They are to narrow minded... I can see not chaining up to get in it but you need to know how to chain to get out of it ever hear of lake effect snow or how quickly weather can change due to higher elevations sometimes news sources are not reliable enough or give enough information and you end up in the #### and got to get out so you need to be able to chain to reach a safe haven.... And a chain up pullout is NOT a safe haven

 

That is not what I asked, my question was how much extra pay you guys get for chaining and taking the extra time for being cautious in inclement weather.

It seems to me there should be some sort of compensation for the extra time and knowledge of chaining and also for the extra time involved for driving under the speed limit for adverse weather conditions.

Please enlighten me where I'm going wrong here.

 

We don't get paid nothing. But chaining [or not chaining and waiting] can mean the difference between a good week and a bad week. But I do think there should be some form of compensation. People have been hurt (slipped or hit) and lost digits in brutal cold while chaining. How many times do we need to see dash cam video of trucks wiping out into vehicles on the side of the road to realize the inherent danger of doing crap on the side of busy, slick roads?

 

When I ran grocery van out of Denver for a couple weeks. They paid $75.00 each time to chain. Even if you had to do it several times a trip.

 

As a self dispatching owner op: I just don't take the loads going into/through the ice unless their is enough extra $$ on it to bribe me into getting cold while chaining. Unfortunately most cube farms can't figure this out nor how to pass it on to the driver.
