I see that around middle Tennessee too. And I don't understand these farms with brand new trucks and brand new hopper bottoms. I wonder where the money comes from. There's so many hoppers running around where I live it's crazy.

Tax subsidies. The same people that complain about welfare for the poor are rich and getting tax subsidies on farms. No different from where I look just different names for the programs.

Some of them are not going to be getting the Subsidies in Tn next year. Only way to get land into the programs next year. Is you have to farm it, can't just own load. And get it into programs. Lots of the Big Pro Ball players are not liking it. I love it, we have one NFL player that bought Over a 1000 Acres. Leases it out, but this year. He cut hay off part of it. Trying to get around the new rules. But being hes not growing a crop. He is mad because the plan did not work for him. Something in the rules it had to be grain crops. I know my mother in law is in the same boat. But she's a widow that's just caught in a spot. But then again fatherinlaw only had a few acres in it. So she will just rent it out also.

I'm still here dragging the hopper around occasionally. It will be real quiet here until the river opens in the spring.

Im looking into starting to haul grain. I live in the NW corner of Iowa, wondering what advice you guys have as far as tuck and trailer setup and rates. How much can expect to net per year?

Setup for a hopper and truck would depend on what you can afford everyone's opinion will be different the lighter you are the more you can haul. If you wanna know the rates check out the drivers at your nearest coop see if you can talk them out of the info but even that will flucate. Sounds like you are a long way from being ready to start this adventure
