I wasn't to far away I grossed 77,000. home everyday do one load. park truck right at my house. good benifits. night or day driving sometimes nights. not strictly night or day shift everyone rotates not strictly stuck to one schedule. I know it ain't that much to guys that's been trucking for 20 years but for a 26 year old most I ever made. but most people don't look into a job like I have cuz they can't stand the smell

    $139.29 in 1975 is worth $1,237.90 today.
Hope that puts things in perspective

$2500 a week is high. Car haul it could be done although I rarely hit that. LTL $2000 would be near tops unless working 6 days a week.

We all know that making that type of money all depends on how much OT you're willing to put in. DOT Hours of Service doesn't apply at where I work at, so if somebody had absolutely no life and wanted to put in 100 hours a week, they would make around $250-300k a year. But usually OT is sought after in spurts, but we have had drivers make $4-6k before.

We have our $110k+ guys at our barn, no thanks. 72k @ 45 hours a week (give or take) suits me just fine. I made more in '15, but worked a lot of hours. I'm past the point of living to work.

Well, since I've left the profession, I'll toss my fellow truckers a big bone. Those of you who want a fairly-high-paying truck job and don't mind long hours should try what I've done the last 3 summers---hauling jet fuel for firefighting helicopters owned by private companies. I averaged between $2500 and $3000 gross per week on W2 plus perks.

Private helicopter companies get Forest Service contracts which require you to be paid Health and Welfare pay in addition to your base pay--currently $4.32 per hour for each 40 hours per week, per diem pay (according to the fed rates for the area and is sometimes quite high), and a guaranteed 30 hours of overtime each week. Generally, I put in 11 hours every day 7 days a week. The private companies pay for hotels so you never sleep in a truck ( good hotels--not the dives), rental cars, and the normal perks. The companies I worked for are located in Alaska and Colorado---but I was never actually at those locations much. Generally I was in California, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana---mostly in California.

On this type work you mostly sit around an airfield or hotel all day and try and not get bored to death. Then, all of a sudden, everything goes insane and you're refueling the helicopter, relocating, or trekking off through the mountains to meet a helicopter at gps coordinates. Mostly it's just boring, kinda like any firefighting operation. The Forest Service contract says you get off 2 days every 14 days. The companies give you per diem and a rental car or airfare home for your off days.

I'm from Carlisle / HBG area. Obviously money earned will vary by the terminal, and depending on which runs are available. Most LTL companies are paying about the same. I"m speaking as a linehaul driver. Carlisle / Mechanicsburg / HBG / York area has a lot of opportunities for drivers (and new drivers out of school). I'd say our average linehaul driver easily grosses over $1700 a week and has a bid that gets them home every day. Our top drivers gross just under $2200 a week.

I used to gross 1900 plus every week delivering cases (food). 5 days about 62 hours a week, do shuttles now and make about 1500 a week but a lot better hours and the only thing i really touch now are the landing gear and con gear (dolly)

You can make that at UPS working 10.5-11.0 hours a day for 5 days(not counting 30 min break)
You would need a good bid and some seniority to accomplish it though.
