park and get sleep. I did fall asleep behind the wheel and drove off the road and stopped in some evergreens and weeds. i tried cofee and redbulls and slapping on the face, nothing was helping.

Watching what you eat when you have a shift to drive helps. If you can cut foods that will spike your sugar levels, it helps. Like pastas and junk food, sugary stuff and the drinks as well. We do most of our running at night so trying to get enough rest during the day for sure and watching food intake as well. On particularly hard running door to door runs I don't eat much of anything until I get where I'm going. Stay hydrated also.

I pull into a rest stop and take a quick 10 to 15 min power nap. You will be surprised how well a quick 10 min nap works for you.

How do you guys avoid falling asleep while driving in the boring countryside in the dark? It feels like it doesn't matter how much sleep I get, I still have to try with all my might to avoid dozing off. Energy drinks, chugging down water, gum, doesn't seem to help.
I'm fine in the cities with all the lights. -
Sometimes I open the window turn the ac on full blast or blare the radio. Don't risk it though if you feel tired. I sleep my whole 10 hour break usually

I've never fallen asleep in an upright position. I must be laying down to sleep. It would be near impossible for me to doze off behind the wheel.
I do however run a dedicated route and drive primarily daytime hours. I sleep at roughly the same time 7 nights a week. Makes a world of difference in sleep quality.tscottme and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
I use to sleep on the weekend, just because you have to take a brake does not mean you have to sleep.
Different strokes for different folks.
Slow down on food, caffeine and know your limit.
Stay safe.
