2016 579 low voltage disconnect

    Mine did stuff like what I described when I 1st got it, then it slowly quit until my last service when they replaced all 4 batteries (that were only 1 year old) then it went nuts almost daily for a few weeks, now it's only an occasional hiccup or random cutoff with the APU starting/running. I think Scottie from Star Trek described it perfectly "the more they over tick the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain"...my dad always said, the more gizmos the car has, the more opportunity for problems to appear, and the more it costs to fix.

    Yeah, batteries go quick as the plates inside break.

    I have a 2107. If I leave the parking lights on the LVD will do a single chime when the APU kicks on, but then goes away once the APU is running. Never had a problem with it cutting power.

    If mine goes below 12 v then it cuts off the power in the cab. I hate the POS and I'm about ready to disable it.

    Had my 2016 579 in for service and after that the LVD stopped working all together. It really sucks coming back to a truck with dead batteries after a weekend at home.

    I still haven't gotten around to messing with it. I just live with it. If I really want power in the cab while cooking etc., I'll sometimes leave the key on for a relatively short time.

    Buying better batteries has gone a long way but I still set it off occasionally. I do love my Interstate batteries.

    The LVD is a POS nanny device in my opinion. If I want to kill the batteries then I should be able to. I know the consequences.

    My peterbilt 579 2016 does that after 10 minutes being parked. Bad batteries likely the issue but you don’t get paid squat to park and getem fixed. On top of that Werner (my co.) has idle interupt from approx 27 deg F-75 deg F so i can’t charge the batteries even if I wanted to the engine just cuts off after 5 minutes of idling. I can leave the key in the ‘on’ position but this cuts off my bunk heater so it’s either have lights or bunk heater. It’s bull I know but i put up with it for my paycheck.

    Had my 2019 for a month now, after reading these posts its good to see pete still has the same ####### problems. The LVD is a total POS. After parked for 5 to 10 min the alarm goes off and kills the power. After testing it seems that the thing is set at 12.6V . WTF???? Are they total morons at paccar? I can see setting it at approx 11.8V but why so high? I either have to deal with spoiled food or leave the apu run all weekend. had to set the apu at 12.7V or it wont start soon enough to beat the lvd. and if it doesnt bring batt voltage up quick enough to stop the lvd. once lvd trips even though the apu is running the power stays off till you cycle the key. Real smart. factory puts in a fridge that trips the lvd in 10 min of use.
    oops I forgot we have to build everything to protect the mentally challenged.....
