There is another video, or maybe it was just a news report, of a truck getting blown off the Bay Bridge into Chessapeak Bay sometime in the past week. I didn't read the article or view any video, just read the headline, but apparently some strong winds were involved.

Sitting in Detroit since 2 am and xxxxxx broker said the delivery was for 6am today it turned around into 10am tomorrow, I'd want to see him in person on day
FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
The follow up on that, was driver error. Not wind related.
Picking up in IN tomorrow and heading to NJ for a Thursday AM delivery with 7K in the box.
I loaded in upstate Mass heading to GA the evening before last week's blizzard. Shot over to Scranton on the 84 and went down the 81 and avoided going down the 95 in the middle of the blizzard.FerrissWheel Thanks this. -
Theres a video showing the truck and trailer floating down the river. Driver didnt make it. Thought i saw it on the news video or maybe it was someone on the forum had posted it. Dont remember. Old age i guess lol

Well I got screwed, details on that when I finally calm down. I'm still in York NE.
But I did see both of those videos
Heck 60 mile an hour wind gust I still wouldn't take a flatbed loaded with 1 giant plate of sheet steel on.
Kinda made that mistake a few months in up around Boezman MT when I was in reefer. Got through with dumb luck. Got pushed onto the shoulder. I slowed down and found a place to park. Out of the wind. Did see 2 trucks out in the ditch.
Forecast said 35MPH. DOT sign said 35MPH. Later on I found out that the conditions had changed when I got further down the road, and some speeds were recorded at 70mph. Stupid fricking luck. -
The wind was all but gone this morning so it was a nice drive to NJ. There was not even much rush hour traffic through Baltimore at 0800. I was surprised.
My next load picks up in Wilkes-Barre, PA, a Sears load with 3 extra stops.
Swift gave me a window until 1600 to pick it up, I got there at 1559, and the load is not scheduled to be ready until midnight tonight. Looks like someone got a wire crossed.
So I'll pick it up in the morning, perhaps with some detention pay out of it. -
I forgot how much chicken plants stink ...
Moosetek13 Thanks this. -

The memory is a tricky thing. -

And THAT is good reason why I deal with longshoreman rather than dead chickens!
