I bought a 3.2 cf Danby bar fridge at Walmart. It lasted one and a half days. I figured it wouldn't last forever but lots of people get 1 or 2 years out of one. Are the Danby just too cheap? I had it strapped down so it wasn't moving, is that a mistake? Any suggestions appreciated.
Thanks.
what brand 110v fridge?

Do you know if you have a square wave inverter or sine wave? I hear about square wave inverters shortening life span on refrigerators.
little fridges are so hit-or-miss -
It's a sine wave, Tripp lite 3500w

Wal mart has junk
Go to sears and pick up Kenmore mini fridge.Elroythekid Thanks this. -
Dan31186 hit the nail on the head. You can have the best fridge money can buy, but if your power source is flawed you will kill it!!

I have a good tripp lite inverter.

It's a sine wave inverter? -
Have you monitored for spikes while running the truck? Was the fridge sitting upright for a while before plugging it in? I've run a small fridge in a truck off a cobra inverter, never killed one that fast. It very well could have been a fluke also.

don't go cheap.. I have a Frigidaire 3.1 cu.ft. fridge with a REAL freezer. $224.99 at best buys add $20 for the extended Warranty (stupid thing to give a trucker right)
if it dies with in the 1st 2 years just walk into best buys with it and they just give you a new one......what they do is refund the price of the old one plus what ever is left of what you paid for the Warranty on a gift card then you just buy a new one (with the gift card) and pay what ever the extra for the new Warranty.... last one lasted me about 20 months when it went out they refunded the price I paid (with tax) and the 4 months I had left on the Warranty. my out of pocket cost was for the new one was around $22 with tax.....
don't strap it down to tight (it needs to be able to move just a little) if it can't move (just a little) all the vibrations will be transferred to the motor and pluming that is not make to take the vibrations.... mine sits on a rubber pad (cheap mud flap) a strip of Velcro to hold the doors closed (they can open when turning if something shift inside (bottle water rolls into the door....?) and a glue on strap on the top going to the wall to keep it from tipping...... btw running on a cheap ### road pro 1,500w
this is the one I have http://www.bestbuy.com/site/frigida...rator-stainless-steel/5315105.p?skuId=5315105Aamcotrans Thanks this. -
I plugged it in in my garage and it works perfect.... I'm going to run an extension in from the truck and see what hsppens.
I had it on an anti fatigue foam mat and strapped down fairly tight? -
your fridge doesn't like you invertor.... the reason is you invertor ISN"T pure sine wave, it's a PWM sine wave,
PWM stands for "Pulse-width modulation" it's better than modified sine wave but it's not pure sine wave, that's what your house has
