Well, Spyder, our truck is ok. We've put a lot into it ($) over the years. But it is still a 2005 with nearly 1.5 million miles...so we have to at least start saving and planning for a future purchase. (Knock on wood)--it's been a few months since it has required a major repair--so we are hoping to get another year or two out of it.
Airborne Thanks this. -
We've rebuilt the engine. Replaced the EGR valve a couple of times, the VPOD and the wire harness, the turbo, delta P sensors, radiator, charge air cooler, the clutch, the starter, oil cooler, new head, new crank shaft, new leaf spring, exhaust manifold, exhaust system, alternator...and a bunch if other things I can't think of off the top of my head. After spending so much money we would love it if we could make it work for us for a couple of more years. Ahhh the joys of truckin'

you can pick up a sheet of PARS and PAPS stickers while in Louisville. Driver is responsible for the ACE/ACI manifests. Helps to have a printer in the truck. Also get the papers from International department if you plan to transit through, each copy of that paperwork has it's own number already assigned.Chickadee Thanks this.

If you are going to in Canada a lot, which it sounds like you might, make sure you consider that with your data usage. The data is only used when it looks up a destination. If you have data turned off it will still work and you will have to manually input your location. Likewise you need it to send in logs. Something to consider since if you are on a US phone plan data can be ridiculously expensive north of the border.Chickadee Thanks this.

Also on phone plans, don't forget to ask for the discount you get as a Mercer "employee". I think Verizon is 19% and the other major carriers are similar. Need to send settlement statements to verify the "employment"
The Boss Lady, Chickadee and Razorwyr Thank this. -
1.5 million miles is nothing to be afraid of. Especially if you've kept the salt washed off it. I've got nearly that on this truck. 1.216 and only 1 day lost to premature failure of a part. Everything else has been planned scheduled maintenance.
Point is, if you take care of a truck, any truck even a cheap true away freightliner like this one, she will take care of you and go for a very very long time.roshea Thanks this. -
You know, I keep saying I'm going to do this.....2 years later I still havent.

@CJndaTruck yeah, that remote access sounds like a great thing. I have been hearing FL and WS advertise their ability to do that for at least the last year and while I think FL are ugly, it has tempted me into getting a truck like yours.
