The only way a shorter wheel base will hurt you is it might keep you from over hanging on the front of the trailer. No big deal.

If I'm not mistaken you are about to be a first tone owner operator. Get a flat bed. The only way i would suggest a step deck is if you had a few years of experience pulling a flat of your own. Learning freight lanes and how to make money out here is no easy thing. Starting straight off with a step deck is really gonna make it difficult. I'm not trying to say your not skat enough out anything like that, but the reality is every single one of us made quite a few expensive mistakes when we first bought a truck. It wasn't easy for anyone. It takes time to really learn freight markets. And there is a LOT more flat freight out here than stepdeck freight. Having access to that amount of freight will help you recover from the expensive mistakes you will make.

Because they have customers that use liquid totes. It they have totes of 100 gallons or more that total over 1,000 gallons a tanker endorsement is required or something like that.
