I am sure his tablet can be used for more than just logs. It is an Android after all. He had a computer and printer onboard, so doesn't need the tablet for his entertainment.

 

I just saw a tablet for $35 at walmart online. It is bluetooth capable with wifi. Does it have to be connected 24/7 to wifi/data to work as an elog device or can I get online every few hours to upload data?

It needs location services so kinda needs to be online during the workday. But it uses very little data. If you have the app on your tablet too then it needs to update every 15? Mins for IFTA tracking.

 

Don't you hotspot it off your phone?

 

I had it off my mifi before. (Basically the same) but now my tablet has cell service.

 

But my printer, satellite, Xbox and whatever all run off my hotspot.

 

What is the benefit of a separate data plan on the tablet?
