Somebody complained about smell drivers in the letters to the editor in The Trucker newspaper. Then this lady driver wrote explaining why she and her husband avoided the showers like the plague.
I was having none of it, so I wrote a scathing letter to them too. The excuse that she wrote that bothered me the most was hard it is to park at truckstop because the spots are so small. The Trucker is distributed at TA/Petro, which means that had 12' angled slots. If she or her husband couldn't park there, they had a bigger problem than their odor!Last edited: Mar 7, 2017

If you run the Ohio turnpike all the service plazas have free showers for drivers and really cheap laundry services. You'll need your own towels and soap, but in a pinch I didn't have my towels with me once so I used a set of clean shirts to dry off.

Ok, I know this is changing the subject a bit, but what is up with the disgusting, foul smelling parking lots?? I mean really. I guess the same ones not showering are the same ones pissing in the truck stop parking lots. Ugh, I literally want to vomit. Remember, when you are walking through a piss smelling lot, you have to get back in your truck with those shoes you just used to walk across the lot. Any suggestions regarding that? At night when we are parked and ready to relax, shoes come off and we lay a rug down so that our clean feet do not touch the flooring underneath.

You can easily find a shower at any truck stop from 10am to 3pm since most truckers take showers early in the morning or right at sundown. Never shower up north they still have the same buildings from 1950 which have never been renovated. Flying J and Love's have clean and/or updated showers for the most part. Since I fuel up every day I basically have unlimited showers available on my Pilot and Love's card.
