The do not shift in the intersection is the most asinine rule/thing I've ever heard of. Instead of accelerating through let's putz our way slowly through it. Whoever wrote this rule is probably the same idiot who cuts off a big truck to then stand on his brakes and pull into a McDonald's on his lunch break cuz he can't wait the extra 5 secondsPumpkin Oval Head Thanks this.

LMAO.
In my best Maine accent (and remember, I'm not from here): 'Nah, we don't touch the friggin' stuff, bub!'windsmith Thanks this. -

If you have to just bogg that motor thru, do not kill it or change gears in an intersection.

I don't think there is a rule or reg against shifting in the intersection. There is for railroad trax, maybe people get the two mixed up.
My theory why they want the student to take off in 4th is so they are more likely to stall out and fail their road test thereby being forced to spend more money for more schooling. Then the instructor will say, "let's try this-- take off in 3rd or 2nd from now on" and magically the student retests and passes after spending an extra $1000 for the extra instruction.x1Heavy Thanks this. -
We all have a past, Bill Clinton did not inhale and Obama tried it once.KillingTime and windsmith Thank this.

See? That's how I feel.
First day out from behind the wheel, I'm getting ####ING LIT.
Lol.Loose Leaf and windsmith Thank this. -
I change gears all the time everytime. Done it on my last 2 road test. Even safety guy that hired me said it's the stupidest thing he has ever heard of. Previous employer eyes went wide when I went 2-4-6 through long sweeping left turn though
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
There isn't. But my CDL instructors did stress that we should be in low range before entering an intersection where we were turning. I suspect that had something to do with keeping the speed down to where you weren't going to be able to accidentally roll the truck through the turn...scottied67 and Loose Leaf Thank this.
