Why are you not taking CA-395?

Thinking the same. Could have taken hwy 14 north and would end at 395 im ridgecrest.
Btw. Just for info.. you can park at the 76 station off crown valley rd. In acton. There a few fast food joimts and a mex resteraunt within walking distance.

I'm getting there, just not yet.

My fuel route was weird, going south on 101 to the 405 and then north.
But traffic was basically stopped going in that direction so I went with my GPS directions.
Both have me on 14 and 395 a bit later.
This time the RM GPS has the better route. And it was smooth all the way.

And I'm not really worrying about a place to park today. I just wanted some good coffee when I wake up.
I have so much time on this load that I can do what I want.
430 miles for tomorrow to get me to my first stop, with at least a 12 hour break. Easy.

With the shortage of loads in my area I had to take what was given, in the hopes of getting to a better area.
Too much time with the load, but it is better than turning it down and waiting another day or two in that area.
Turn down a load and layover pay doesn't happen.

    FerrissWheel and scottied67 Thank this.

    And a 'mex restaurant'?
I would rather eat anything else.

That's the beauty (and curse) of SoCal, there are several ways to get where you need to go.
Tomorrow I need to go to the rail yard on Washington in Los Angeles. The shortest route is the 60 west to the 710 south. Problem is the west-bound 60 is a nightmare in the afternoon once you near LA. I'll figure it out tomorrow.

    Moosetek13 Thanks this.

Walmart in Carson City, NV, about 2 miles from my first stop.
Light traffic and light winds made for a very nice drive today.

I really can't idle much here because of a noise ordinance and there are houses right behind me.
One nice thing is the McDonald's in the store. I was able to get coffee for the morning, which I will reheat with my toaster oven.
I need my coffee in the morning.

Yuba City, CA at a little place on CA-99.

I'm getting tired of being in CA, especially with these short loads with way too much time.
My next load is worse than the last one. Around 450 miles total, picking up Friday and delivering Monday.
But after seeing the bubble map for the area I was afraid to turn it down. I didn't want to end up sitting all weekend with zero miles and no option for layover pay.

And with so much of the country showing red, there is a hiring blitz in Atlanta.

Yep ... I live in California. Learned my first winter with the company ... point my truck east. Get on the other side of the Mississippi and stay there until I'm ready to come home.
