I'm just a student driver, but I personally like to keep the CB on just loud enough to hear some one cut through. It seems like quite a few drivers don't even have one is this unprofessional?

I never leave home without it. I have always had one since I started trucking back in 1979. I feel naked not having one. It's must for individuals who really want to become professionals in this line of work. Some wouldn't agree because of the BS that goes on along with it, that's why CB radios have a on and OFF button and squelch/rf gain knobs to adjust and eliminate some of the BS you don't want to hear.

Bought a new Cobra LX29BT to use the noise cancelling feature, and the one touch to answer my phone.
I sometimes just use a Blue Parrot headset for the phone also.
The CB is on in my Base Station at the house and my better half
keeps an ear to it when I'm out.
I lurk on the CB like I lurk on here, To listen and learn.
It's handy to give others heads up on a issue or road condition.
lots more BS on the CB than here.

It has saved me a lot of time from not sitting in accidents! I would say about once a month I go around a highway road closure I wouldn't of known about. Just 3 weeks ago there was a multiple vehicle accident that shut down i75. That day alone saved me at least an hour.
Even if I'm not able to go around at least I can hit my 4ways early and come to a slow stop to make sure the guy behind me will also stop. Kinda paranoid about getting rear ended after getting hit buy a box truck at 60mph when i had already been stopped for 10 seconds...

What would make you think or ask such a question.I drove for 9 yrs otr and only used the CB the first couple months.I was having trouble keeping signal so I unhooked it and haven't used it since.CB I would say is more of a luxery item.
