Nope, they cut me to 26 cpm and wanted me to haul hazmat at that price.

The solo dispatchers were so inept that I was running my entire 70 hour clock for like 2000 miles, so not even making minimum wage.

The low level solo managers were the most out of touch, arrogant people I've ever talked to in my life. They acted absolutely astonished that I thought I should be paid to haul hazmat.

Where do they get these absolutely delusional people who run the solo department???

My departure condolences from my dispatcher.

    They're not all garbage.
Just do you job and don't cry about every little thing that inconveniences you.

@Davezilla - sucks about that 26cpm... that recent? I'd have walked at that rate as well.... Not that 35cpm was much better, but at least I got to come home for 4 days a month.

One of my friends just quit training because they cut his pay as well.

The CEO orders pay raises and these arrogant lower level managers go and cut it back.

That's absolutely delusional when lower level managers think they can override the CEO and board.

I've never seen anything this obnoxious in my life.

You mean to tell me if you are told by a recruiter that you will be hired on at .35cpm (which is the new starting OTR pay at Werner)that a low level manager can cut your pay to .26cpm ? I think I would make a trip to Omaha.

Something tells me Mr Davezilla doesn't exactly know what he is talking about. Perhaps the difference in cpm is paid in per diem. I make 47 cpm but gross income shows 39, the other 8 is paid per diem. One thing I know for sure is he definitely likes to complain and seems to lack ability to take responsibility for own shortfalls, which seems to be a rampant problem in this industry. Everything is due to a dumb dispatcher, crappy company management, all the other drivers can't drive, etc...

I thought there was more to it . The Per Diem makes sense. I find it hard to believe any Lowe level mgr.van cut your pay all of a sudden.

Current Werner pay for a rookie now equals 0.26/mile +per diem? Am I reading thus correctly?

For the love of all that we hold Holy, that's insane! Werner was paying 0.26/mile when I wotked for them over 10 years ago! Heck, I was in the good stuff with them pulling a dedicated account for 0.30/mile WITHOUT per diem!

So I can start at between 0.35 and 0.40/mile almost anywhere else, or drive for the Big Blue Screw for 0.26/mile? Boy, oh boy! Where do I sign up?

Idiots. At Werner's home fortress in Omaha, obviously.

Out of curiosity I called to find out. They start at .35cpm and there is an option to take a .12cpm per diem. So if you opt for the per diem .23 is taxable and .12 is non taxable.

    Thanks. Thought so.

I left two months ago. Wasn't 'making mad bank' but I wasn't getting totally reamed either.

.26cpm........... The next myth to circle the lunch counter while everyone pretends to watch the football game as that one ###-hole just keeps flapping his gums.... as relentless as diarrhea after a hard nights drinking without any solid food beforehand.
