Does Canada run straight #1diesel all season long, I dont need to add any anti gel to it? Whats gelling point for their clear diesel?

No. Why would you want winterfuel in summer.
Never had issues without additives. I don't give much on them. The problem might be the not so cold resistant fuel you're bringing in your tanks from south.
There is no fix gelling point in canadian fuel. If it gets colder, the fuel is brewed a bit thinner at the refinery.

Straight #1 should be good to -20 IIRC. regular #2 is good to somewhere between 0 and 15. You can treat it to lower with howes just read the back of the bottle.

If your still with Systems the company policy was officially 0* to start idling, but they turned my truck up to start idling at 15* or colder along with many others as too many were gelling up. I've never gelled up. Add half a big bottle of howes to each tank at each fill up if putting in #2 diesel and never turn it off long enough to cold soak if under 15* and you'll likely never have an issue.

My last truck I bought had tank heaters, but unless your running like -20 or colder ambient for long distances you don't need em.

I start treating my fuel on Jan 1. I don't go overboard with it. I use about 250ml of diesel treat per 125 gal when filling up. I know some guys don't treat it at all but I look it at as cheap piece of mind. I've had fuel gel up twice in my life. And it not something I like to deal with. I was lucky. both times it was in my driveway after sitting for a week or so during extreme cold snaps.

I never treat fuel when running in Canada in winter. The clearer the fuel is the lower temp it will work to. I only use maybe 2 or 3 bottles of Howes all winter long and only for when it is very cold going across upper shelf of usa.

    mitmaks Thanks this.

I used to run to Yellowknife ( almost the Arctic ) and never put anything in.

Just fuel somewhere there so you have the fuel to match the area

Well I've yet to see any of our equipment gel fuel at -30C. Its the condensation that will get ya. Not uncommon to pull a water seperator and see ice forming inside though.
