Honestly man people have it made today compared to over the last decade! "Viruses" have been reduced to nothing more than pop ups that can be defeated by just holding your power button in and restarting! LMAO!

I have not seen a good hard to deal with virus in a few years. (on the residential side of things)

Yet every year 4 million dollars worth of uninformed users (give or take which news reports you read) call the number on the pop up and give credit card info to the moron who provided you with the pop up looking like a virus to begin with!

A good example of why this is true is the recent criminal charges against a few hundred people where the gov used a zero-day exploit to identify the identity of people using Tor to share child porn anonymously. The prosecutors have now dropped several of these cases because to prosecute they would be required to reveal the exploit used to the defense. They don't want to give away their secret because then.....it would be patched! And they gov would have to find another exploit to use. So, yes, patches do close backdoors that the government uses, and that non-government persons use.

My auto updates are on manual, this must have came with the last update I did and was set to appear at a certain time because I checked my path to my current delivery before going to bed and it wasn't there, then before I took off in the morning, I looked again to double check the road names and landmarks at turns to refresh my memory and there it was.

The goofy PAC-man thing is gone from iOS google maps Tuesday morning (April 4) for me. (No recent update)

But on the subject of updating vs not updating. The android and iOS os systems are always being modified to the point where apps will cease working properly if you let them go without updating too long. And it works either way. If you fail to keep the os and apps both updated, eventually you'll end up with a dumb smartphone. And eventually will be forced to do a massive update that will be dicey at best.
