I've spent the morning talking with fuel economy, safety, FM, FM's Supervisor. Found out the following information (and yes, this post did get back to them which apparently it through up some flags which let them know that something needs to be looked into). If you in fact have problems with the equipment that breakdown doesn't want to fix, or the shop WON'T fix, you may try to contact Fuel Economy for fuel related issues (ICON, Coolant leaks, Oil Leaks, etc) or Safety for anything that might cause a safe working unit. Apparently, nothing get's sent between deptartments. So, if there is a problem with the ICON not working and running up your fuel usage, NOTHING is said to fuel economy. You'll have to do it yourself. As for my 'call to arms', a note for trainers: Let your students know this can be done. I was basically told that the only way to get a problem such as this fixed was to go through breakdown/shops. I was never told I could contact Fuel Economy for OTHER problems that could cause fuel usage issues.

That is very true. You can speak with fuel economy about messed up idle and safety about defects that nobody else will deal with, as a matter of fact most of the time if your icon is messed up and your in vb you can speak with fuel econ and they'll get you scheduled b4 you leave for it to be fixed. However that still has nothing to do with your truck being turned down. It just determines how low you go.

Turned down is one thing, turned down to 60/60 because of something you've been telling breakdown is wrong for MONTHS is another.

I do know of an individual that not only had been complaining about ICON not working, but just to stay comfortable WHEN POSSIBLE, was paying for Idle Aire, and Motels (once or twice out of pocket). Yet was still shut back to 60/60. This driver's complaint was even to the extent of having their truck taken to International to be repaired.

Which would go to my original complaint with the beginning of this post "a call to arms" It is not that you dont have a complaint it is the fact that you have to learn where that complaint needs to be directed to in this case it is not breakdown or your fleet mgr or the pres. of company and certainly not the dot

I don't know whatthe fuss is all about. My truck has gone into the shop 3 times since they said that all trucks were being turned down and its still 63/63.
