    Any securement or lifting device- is only as strong as its weakest point. Of course in lifting, angles come into play as to the strength. But if the HOOK, is strong enough to start with? Hooking it to another Hook don't mean ####. That's Physics.

    Man there are several things there that make you raise an eyebrow. I wonder if this was intended to be an internal training video for IDOT employees? He mentions in the beginning something about most of the chains that the department of transportation has are going to be 3/8" transportation chains. I'll be curious if they respond.

    that was my thought as well. I really liked where they redid the ratchet binder in the rear so it would not "come open" and it still wax floating in the air. Thankfully they wrapped the chain around It to prevent it from coming open.

    Iowa can be a real pain in the ### at times. We haul some special sea containers from NJ to WA on double drop stretch trailer because they are 13' tall and 40' long. They won't issue us a permit anymore because they do not issue permits for over height containers. They tell us to put it on a container chassis even though it would be like 17' tall.

    Have to agree - weaker points would be anchor points on the trailer - rub rails etc. The ENTIRE chain and hook unit should be rated for XXX lbs, right?

    @Jumbo @DDlighttruck @TripleS @johndeere4020

    Tagged a few of you folks that made comments since I still have not figured out how to 'multi-quote'.

    I just spoke with the officer involved in making this video. The comment was correct, about this being an internal Iowa Department of Transportation video. There is no regulation against hooking two chains together. Iowa Department of Transportation is looking into it, unaware that this video had been uploaded to youtube. I hope they leave it on youtube, as it has some pretty good info in it.
